So Mr. K gave us quite a scare last week. Sunday night when I went in to check on him before I went to bed he felt VERY hot. I took his temp and it was 105.5! Needless to say we headed straight up to the ER at Primary Children's. After checking in they re-took his temp and it was at 104.2 so they gave him some Tylenol and sent us to wait... and wait.... and WAIT! 3 hours later we got called back to a room. An hour and a half later we finally saw a doctor. He re-took his temp and it was at 100. The Tylenol had obviously kicked in and K was acting like his normal self so they set us home and told us to watch him for difficulty breathing or lethargy. By the time we got back home it was 6am so off to bed we all went. When we woke up K was breathing pretty fast and it continued to get worse throughout the day. So by 5 I was pretty worried. Dave took him to the pediatrician and they gave him a breathing treatment and prescribed breathing treatments every 4 hours until he stopped coughing. Well that night he go worse and worse and was fighting for every breath and breathing about 80 breaths per minute. (WAY TOO FAST) We went back to the doctors and wal la... we end up back at PCMC. This time they rushed us into our own room where the doc, respiratory therapist, PA and Nurse were waiting for us. They put an IV in... (NOT FUN WITH A 2 YEAR OLD) suctioned out his nose (ALSO NOT FUN) and gave him another breathing treatment. They also started fluid because he was so dehydrated they were worried about blood poisoning.... It turns out he had RSV! I wish the doc from the first ER visit had just tested him for it but oh well. So we ended up spending the night in the RTU where they put him on oxygen over night(SO NOT FUN WITH A 2 YEAR OLD). The next morning he was released and it has been getting better since then. Talk about giving Mama a heart attack. I have never been so grateful to have my crazy, hyper, loud, non-stop, baby back. Man how I love this little man.

I am so glad that he is feeling better. Those kind of things are scary. Can't wait to see you this weekend.
I HATE the RTU. I've spent way too many nights up there.
(The staff is lovely, it's just the department in general I hate...)
I'm glad K is better. Poor little guy... poor little parents...
Oh Misty! How horrible! I am soo glad he is ok. We take Porter once a month to get one shot ($1,400.00) to protect him from RSV. It really is an awful illness.
I can't imagine doing all that with a 2 year old...they aren't very cooperative are they...especially about needles or things up their nose.
Poor kid! Seriously, RSV is the worst! It's amazing how it can bring down even the strongest of kids. Glad you are all home and feeling better!
My goodness! What a fright! I am glad he is doing better...Connor is just getting over strep, but once everyone is feeling healthy...LET'S DO THAT LUNCH!! Any Monday or Thursday....
OH MY GOSH! Misty I Am so glad he is ok! When I read this I wanted to call you and make sure you were ok! Poor little guy he must have been so confused! How heartbreaking! we send our love and our prayers!
Oh, that is sooo scary!! I have heard it is a late RSV season (which scares me with a newborn coming soon). I also heard it was a REALLY bad season of it, too. So glad he is feeling better :)

How scary! Oh my gosh, I don't think I could have handled that. I'm so glad he is doing better. I'm scared to death that Brielle will get RSV!
I am sure walking through the doors of Primary Childrens wasn't so great for your heart. I am sorry he got RSV, but glad he is feeling better. Give him a squeeze from us.
We've spent the night in the RTU for breathing problems with Abbie (she has asthma!) I've learned way more than I ever wanted to know about breaths per minute and retracted breathing. I am so glad K is doing better!
