RSV = Really Scary Virus.....

So Mr. K gave us quite a scare last week. Sunday night when I went in to check on him before I went to bed he felt VERY hot. I took his temp and it was 105.5! Needless to say we headed straight up to the ER at Primary Children's. After checking in they re-took his temp and it was at 104.2 so they gave him some Tylenol and sent us to wait... and wait.... and WAIT! 3 hours later we got called back to a room. An hour and a half later we finally saw a doctor. He re-took his temp and it was at 100. The Tylenol had obviously kicked in and K was acting like his normal self so they set us home and told us to watch him for difficulty breathing or lethargy. By the time we got back home it was 6am so off to bed we all went. When we woke up K was breathing pretty fast and it continued to get worse throughout the day. So by 5 I was pretty worried. Dave took him to the pediatrician and they gave him a breathing treatment and prescribed breathing treatments every 4 hours until he stopped coughing. Well that night he go worse and worse and was fighting for every breath and breathing about 80 breaths per minute. (WAY TOO FAST) We went back to the doctors and wal la... we end up back at PCMC. This time they rushed us into our own room where the doc, respiratory therapist, PA and Nurse were waiting for us. They put an IV in... (NOT FUN WITH A 2 YEAR OLD) suctioned out his nose (ALSO NOT FUN) and gave him another breathing treatment. They also started fluid because he was so dehydrated they were worried about blood poisoning.... It turns out he had RSV! I wish the doc from the first ER visit had just tested him for it but oh well. So we ended up spending the night in the RTU where they put him on oxygen over night(SO NOT FUN WITH A 2 YEAR OLD). The next morning he was released and it has been getting better since then. Talk about giving Mama a heart attack. I have never been so grateful to have my crazy, hyper, loud, non-stop, baby back.  Man how I love this little man.

The Simple Life...

Mr. K can most often be found sporting his red cowboy boots and cowboy hat. His favorite pass times are playing with his barn and horses, feeding the cows, horses or chickens and "RIDE"ing (whether it be his stick horse, his bouncy horse, me as a horse, or the real thing)... He has trully taught me to enjoy "the simple life". If only they hired Java Programmers in the sticks... Mr. K and I would be quite content. As long as I can get the internet that is...
